I grabbed a quick trip to the bench and got the props painted. I then noticed that the prop shaft for the Revell kit should have been installed in the engine. Whoops. I'll just trim it to fit. I painted and installed the MLG doors as well.

A couple mountain bike companies were using magnesium for bike parts in the early '90s. Rock Shox used it to the make the lower fork legs on their Mag 20 (hence the name) suspension forks. When the paint chipped, the corrosion started fast and wasn't pretty. They usually just seize up if you were lucky. Same goes for the Syncros magnesium front hub I had. If you weren't careful when lacing them up, the threads on the spokes could chip the clear coat and they would start to corrode at the spoke hole and cause the flange to fail. Carl

It's a fun kit. I built my first one without glue or paint.

We were off camping last week so this is the first time I've been at the bench in a while. To make up for that, I decided to add more than just a couple pieces. 😁 Staring with the wheels are now on both kits. The ZM one got the kit ones while I used a set of Barracudacast ones on the Revell. I added the wing guns to the ZM as well. These are from a Master set. Next up are the shoulder belts. Hopefully I got these in the right spot this time. My cousin is visiting from Taiwan so it may be a while before I can add the next couple of bits.

I just like to take my time and savour the build. 😆

After seeing much discussion about the merits of an ultrasonic cutter, I decided to pick one up. I went with the Hanboost version as it seemed to be well received. I'll be putting it to the test on my Joycraft Tutor build. Speaking of which, Rene from Joycraft is sending out some replacement parts for my kit as there was a bench accident and my son broke several parts. I appreciate his help and contact in resolving my problem. Carl

Neat to hear about the early history of Protar. I think Italeri continued to use the label up until at least the late '80s as my LHS has a Protar Ferrari F40 for sale. Thanks Martin! I won't glue the cowl in place so that it's removable. Most likely won't open it up too often though. I might do another one all opened up but we'll see.

Looks sharp there John. Those invasion stripes are certainly neater than any done on D-Day.

I got the same one, 2422. Postage was more than the kit. That being said, the kit was only ¥1920 so definitely affordable.

That's a disappointment. Hopefully it's not hard to sort out.
