May 25May 25 These were started a little while back. They then got lost on my bench while I worked on whatever had my fleeting attention. So, having finished the F-16 my bench is ready to get these done. The ZM kit is much further along with the cockpit done, fuselage closed up and the majority of the wings completed as well as the engine. The Revell one has the wings started, the fuselage halves together, and the engine mostly complete.
May 25May 25 Great starts. I actually love the Revell kit. The fit and detail are pretty good for the price and it’s a good base for super detailing.
May 30May 30 Author I've made some progress on the FWs.I finally installed the pedals into the Revell cockpit. I have the Eduard Brassin' set but the tub was too small. With the pedals done, I installed the cockpit and closed up the fuselage.The wings went on next. I then made up 2 sets of belts. I used a set from Wako. I'm not sure if they're still around or not but I find these to be the easiest to put together. Lap belts attached to the seat. Installed into the ZM cockpit.

May 31May 31 Well. You actually don’t really have to. The buckles in some cases had ‘lips’ on the in- and outside. Funny that Eduard sometimes tells you they go on the outside:This is from a restoration in Hungary:So i guess you’re good either way!
May 31May 31 A drop of RLM 66 onto the attachment points and every thing will be solved by invisibility in the dark tub, Carl I´m still curious how your 190 shootout will end, having two of the Revell incarnations in my stash along tons of resin and PE.Cheers Rob
May 31May 31 Author I managed to get the seats out of both cockpits and fixed the belt placement. I was happy that I don't break the buckles as the Wako ones are plastic rather than PE. Back into their respective cockpits.

The ZM details are a bit more refined compared to the Revell but the fit on both has been very good. I'm really happy about that with the Revell kit as their 262 had some fit challenges.

I´m interested, because I have two Revell 190 kits with Brassin engines as a future project.Cheers Rob
June 2Jun 2 Sorry #rob my mistake the 3D was another model not the 190, i used the Brassin. I dont want to hijack this thread so see if this link works. Neither one fit the kit so I ended up using a mix of parts from the two with kit parts.
June 20Jun 20 Author I've made a bit of progress on the two kits. First up, on the ZM I finished the back of the engine. I then joined the engine with the airframe. Now, onto the various cowl panels. The side panels have the option of open or closed louvers. I've decided to go with the open ones.
June 20Jun 20 Author On the Revell kit, I added the upper wings. There was a slight warp but a quick clamp while the glue was setting sorted it out. @Paddy , here's what I mean by the Eduard resin parts not fitting. You can see the gap all the way around the gun mount. Even the cockpit coaming is too small but I had it glued in before closing up the fuselage so not much I can do with that. With the kit gun mount in place and under a coat of paint.
June 20Jun 20 Very nice. I remember having to scratch the side panel detail on the Revell kit. Noce that it is included on the ZM kit. Keep up the good work!
June 20Jun 20 Yea i feel your pain ☹️I eventually narrowed the cockpit floor which allowed me to close the fuselage sides up a bit more
June 23Jun 23 Author I installed the engine onto the fuselage. When I tried adding the various cowl panels, they didn't want to line up. So I pulled the engine off and attached the panels one by one around it. As I guled on each panel, I used some tape to hold it in place. We'll see how it worked out when I take the tape off.
June 23Jun 23 Author I think it worked out. With the upper cowl test fit in place. It's definitely a better fit than before.
