Wingnut Wing SE.5a

Featured Replies

You Wingnut Wing fans you know the SE5 was in the first batch of kits they release way back when. I've had this in my stash for a really long time and I have been on a WW1 kick for a bit now. While the oils cure out on the Dr1 my attention has been diverted to an Allied aircraft for a change.

That's the HGW seatbelts, frankly it looks oversized but they stay. I'm using the fuselage that has the crinkled fabric, I tried to replcate some of the fabric fold inside the cockpit, maybe once I get it buttoned up it won't look so lame.

Good to see theis one built, nice start with the pit.

Cheers Rob

Got the engine built up, it begs for a lot more detail but i'm not sure I'm in the mood for that. The fit is a bit fussy, not sure what's going on but maybe I need to get the other panels in play to make sure things are squared up.

Dryfitting all the panels, engine and radiator feels better. I think I screwed something on the cockpit bulkhead. I see other folks builds and it looks like it's standing erect. Mine has a bit of a lean to the rear that required me to thin down the trailing edge of the cockpit cowl, panel. It was making that end of the part stand too tall. Feels better now.

letting paints dry and will close up and mask the inspection panels. I'm going to paint and weather to almost the end game on this one. Just seems easier before final assembly.

I'm wondering how long i'm going to be on this WnW WW1 kick.
