July 17Jul 17 This is the just released Joycraft CT-114 Tutor in the RCAF Snowbirds scheme. There will be a follow on trainer version presumably without all the smoke generators and associated plumbing. The instructions come spiral bound which I found a nice touch. The entire kit is 3D printed except for the clear parts which are IM plastic.
July 17Jul 17 Author The details are a mixture of recessed panels lines and rivets along with raised rivets where The raised lines along the fuselage are to aid in the demarcation lines for the paint scheme. A bit old school so hopefully they're not too obvious.
July 17Jul 17 Author The speed brake bays are separate parts and reflect the actual ones on the plane. They include the hydraulic fittings for the piston too. Under a coat of semi-gloss black. The instructions say flat black but the semi-gloss looks more accurate to me. The bays slip in from behind. I found it easier to get the top edge aligned and then gently press the lower edge into place. The exhaust a single piece so no seam cleanup. I painted it using AK Extreme Metal Metallic Smoke. It's so long and thin and it'll be impossible to see the end but unpainted it Aluminum just in case.
July 17Jul 17 Author The exhaust slips into the rear fuselage and has a nice positive mounting. Ready to join the front and back halves together.

July 17Jul 17 Author The wings have an interesting fuselage /wing joint. The wings overlaps and slides into the fuselage. Never seen anything quite like it.It seems to work though which is the main point. The above is just test fit without any glue.
July 17Jul 17 Author Since it was handy, here's a quick size comparison. The wingspan is shorter than FW-190's.
