Eduard P-51B build #2

Time to get with the program on this one! It will require quite a bit of work to remove most of the resin parts from their molds and then get 'em cleaned up, etc. I plan on doing "Big Mac Junior" this time. Colorful, etc. Onward and upward! LOL 😀

I usually want to get the pilot's seat done first. 😃 Belts are FineMolds.

Before and after "weathering".

Thanks. 😀

Impressive, I think that I might invest in one of those kits.

Cheers

Expensive but a very nice kit. Great detail and good fit. Instructions leave something to be desired though. 😀

Just about ready to assemble the 3 main cockpit sections.

Here's a construction tip for anyone planning to build one of these. If you don't have the cockpit sidewalls JUST RIGHT (I didn't this time) the areas I have marked will interfere with the instrument panel, etc fit and need to be removed so that the instrument panel, rudder pedals, etc will go in place without BIG problems. Since those two areas aren't visible when the instrument panel, etc are in place there's no problem. The IP assembly will drop in with the minimum of problems. 😃

I agree Paddy. 😀

Change of direction. I've decided to do "Boise Bee" in OD and gray instead of "Big Mack Junior". MBJ is just a little too "flashy". 😀

The patchwork paint should make for a nice finish.

I plan to tone that down some but still show the weathering, etc. Just not quite as "bad". 😀

When I removed the Tamiya masking tape from the nose this is what I found. It had really buggered up the Tamiya gloss red paint (I had let it dry over night). It also did that, but to a lesser degree, on the Tamiya gloss white wing stripes. Strangely there were no problems on any other areas although they had been painted with Testor's flat OD. I don't recall having this problem previously. Now I'll have to remove the red nose paint and re-paint with Testor's then cross my fingers that all will then be well. ☹️

All fixed now. I removed the Tamiya red and re-sprayed with Floquil.

Painting about done. I'll over coat with some clear gloss in prep for decaling. 😀
