My first build here :-) lets see how it goes. This is a Matra Simca F1 car from 1968. The usual mix of plastic and white metal from MFH. My first problem here is finding reference pictures because MFH has produced an MS11 chassis with a MS9 engine which is correct but nearly all surviving cars seem to have an MS12 engine as above. Anyway thats a detail but it does mean that i will have to guess some details, not least engine colour. This is a strange choice from MFH here but it should be not

This build has been started some years ago. The reason, I post it again are twofold, one reason being to add another aspect of modelling to LSM Mark II and on the other hand to motivate myself to finish the build, which stalled with rigging. The name giving Duchess was a very interesting person, to say the least. Time to resurrect this build now the Mk-24 is complete going to be photo heavy guys and using an outside server for pics since they are stored there in order methinks should be.👍 The START of some AM🙃 The porthole were all drilled and exterior ladders installed these were 1/350 for IJN in that scale measure 24" across 18" in 1/200 and KM were narrow by pics. This is maybe my best model. Or: the one I'm most proud of. It started of as a Revell Fw190A, which I transformed to a A8 by 3D printing the cannon bulges and ejection chutes under the wing. I was gifted a piece of aileron with the paint and some fabric still on, recovered around 1980 in Vreeland. Close to Schiphol Airport in The Netherlands during Operation Bodenplatte. All done with this little kit. It wasn't a famous or well know racer but I liked the yellow/black scheme. This was a very easy build with no hangups. I painted it with Tamiya gloss Lemon Yellow which really catches my eye. Decals are from my stash and from the Accurate Miniatures sheet for this kit. I started it as a "time filler" while I considered my next 1/32 build. Still not sure but leaning toward another Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1D which I would really like to convert to a F2G if I could find a con

Funny you should mention that Rob. I did look at the 3D print rivets that MFH offer for this kit but without seeing them in person they looked a but large, the alloy rivets are a lot better but in packs of 20 i would need about 30. and i have paid off my mortgage and dont need another :-) TBH i am looking at this car as a learning curve for the future, i have the D type and the other Matra 24h LM car ( and a Norton, Vincent and Montgomery bike) but at this stage i didnt want to start them until i had practiced on this F1 car with no door, glass, bonnet or boot :-) I did build their Abarth a while back but i was so out of my depth it took me a while to recover 😆

Hi Kevin ! thanks ! i hope that this build will confirm your thought about this model :)
I began the construction of the model:
The exterior fuselage detail features finely recessed panel lines, with depth appropriate to the scale. Rivet detail is also present and well proportioned for the model.

Assembly starts with the fuselage interior components.

The internal structure and the various equipment boxes are attached to the fuselage sides, which themselves include moulded internal frame detail. There are some ejector marks present, but all are located in non-visible areas or will be covered by other parts.

The build looks promising!

Nice looking Matra blue and good to see you going on with the MS-11, Paddy. I see, that you haven´t bothered with the riveting of the body. I would have skipped that too, for one, it´s pure madness, two, it might look out of scale and too pronounced and third, The structural integrity of some body panels may weaken too much with all the rivet holes drilled.

If you are used to Aircraft and Armour its always a bit strange when you need to do most of the painting "before " assembly and like wise if you want to spray clear over the decals you need to get that done before anything else.

Some people like to get a finish on the paint at this stage but i tend to put the finish on the clear, that way if i go through the clear i get a warning of blue on the cloth where as it i polish the blue you get no warning of a primer coat showing before its too late. Incidentally this is rattle can Tamiya "French Blue" over Halfords white primer

Decals next then a clear coat or 6 , it does look like i am steaming ahead here and i supose i am but there is a lot to do with running gear and details, clocks seats screen and so on.

Radiator assembly was delivered this morning on a pallet ..........................from the other end of the work bench 🤣

Thanks to the new camera, there is so much detail to spot Kevin. The rigging looks fantastic and I wouldn´t have found out about the missing wire. You can be proud about what you achieved.

Thank you Kevin, and I think your fellow modeler is right about the process. Point #5 I can clearly verify . All the other recommendations make sense, and I think, it is agreed that standing rigging like shrouds are first. The yards are already rigged with rat lines and the masts received their woolings.
Additional to the best rigging sequence, I have to learn all the necessary knots and techniques of rigging, which makes the task feel a little overwhelming.
Poco a poco, step by step is the way, but first, I have to prepare some space for the model to park somewhere in my cave.
I´m on MSW as well and there are so many experienced ship modelers, who I will ask for help and advice as well, but unfortunately the forum was gone like ours, so no more accessible build threads of the DoK.
