My first build here :-) lets see how it goes. This is a Matra Simca F1 car from 1968. The usual mix of plastic and white metal from MFH. My first problem here is finding reference pictures because MFH has produced an MS11 chassis with a MS9 engine which is correct but nearly all surviving cars seem to have an MS12 engine as above. Anyway thats a detail but it does mean that i will have to guess some details, not least engine colour. This is a strange choice from MFH here but it should be not

Josef Frantisek was born a carpenter's son in Otaslavice near Prostejov on 7th October 1913. After his initial training as a locksmith, Josef volunteered for the air force, and went through the VLU Flying School in Prostejov in 1934-1936. I've been perusing and doing a little cleanup of the Lone Star Models conversion parts for a 1/32 F2G. They are meant to be for the old Revell kit but I'm hoping to be able to use a Tamiya 1A or 1D. As you can see there are some significant "problems" with the LSM parts which, I hope, can be addressed by using Tamiya parts (such as the main cowling). I fixed up a "replacement" using some leftover Tamiya clear parts which I think will work well.

This model represents a a/c off the USS Saidor CVE-117 at wars end. I like the DSB/white scheme as it's a bit different. Painted with Humbrol Dark Sea Blue and Tamiya white. Decals are a combination of kit decals and Hussar decals. Essentially OOB except for the FineMolds belts. I hope you like it! 😀

A project that's been a long time grail project of mine. One of the iconic cinematic cars from the '80s. The one that helped launch Tom Cruise's Mel Gibson's career. Aoshima released this back in 2003. They then reissued it several times after that, each time with some improvements to the accuracy and details. They didn't do the version from the first film however even though the initial kit was designed with it in mind. Which is of course the version I wanted to have. It's a basic kit, mos

Hi all, I have been looking forward to this release since I saw the 3d test print at the Heiden, Germany show. The detail is (as far as I can see) better than the venerable Trumpeter kit and surely the Revell kit. Just had contact with Das Werk and they are sending me a kit as soon as it runs of the production line. Good times!

Hi all, Here's an 'MDesign Model Studio' 1:32nd scale 3D printed Armstrong-Whitworth FK.3 'Little Ack'. This model was converted from an operational aircraft of No:47 Squadron. Every now and then you come across a model that beats you. It either doesn’t fit, its detail wise all wrong or you heart was never in it and life is too short. If the manufacturer can’t be bothered to get it right , why should I ? You know the sort of thing.
Well for me it will always be the Revell 1/8 E-type. It beat me into submission. Partly because of the parts quality and partly because of my inability to get two panels the same shade of colour.
The one I never mention because it was so bad was Tamiyas 1st ever big scale car from 1968. It was a 1/12 Honda F1 RA273. I bought it several years ago, I think it was released in 2015, but mine was earlier with out the now included PE fret. I remember looking at the soft detail and under engineering meaning many parts were moulded into one block and thinking…….not for me. I think I actually threw it away I certainly never started it.
Anyway, fast forward 11 years and I think I might have learned enough now to tackle this model particularly as there is now an endless amount of detail pics on line of the real thing. The only thing holding me back is all the other gallant attempts online by some excellent model builders have not managed to make it look like the real thing…they all look like a plastic toy, I can’t put my finger on it now but once I can see why….. I will give this model another go.

You got a nice classic there Carl. The kit seems to capture the brutish look of the original well, with some simplifying detours. I liked the first movie a lot as it was like a rough sketch and not conventional plotted like many other action / thriller movies.

The body shell.

The chassis. As mentioned the kit is a curbside so the engine bottom is moulded in place.

The interior tub. Note that the side panels show a stock interior and not the stripped out one from the Road Warrior. There's also the bottom part of the rear seat.

On the later release, Aoshima modified both parts to more accurately reflect the Road Warrior version. Here's the different side panels for comparison.

And the floorplans.

They did the body with the RW mods already in place- cut out window area and missing trunk lid.

I'm going to have to make both along with the front air dam.
For reference, I have the excellent Auto Art 1/18 diecast.
