Posted the start of this on the old forum, before it went down. The intention was see if this kit could be made into a working RC tank. All while trying to retain as much as the kit as possible. I first investigated whether a propitiatory lower hull could be used, but this would not have been correct, so was dismissed. This would have been an easy solution, but why make life easier? I assembled the hull as per the instructions, after installing bearings for the suspension. Inner and outer b

A 100 Group counter measures a/c with H2S radome, Monica antenna, Jostle antenna, chaff chutes, flame dampener exhausts, plated over ball turret area and gun restrictors on waist positions. Airfix did a nice job on this model. The provided decals are VERY good but have to be handled carefully! I painted the model with Testor's and Tamiya. with a overspray of Alclad clear flat. I worked on this model off and on for over a year so I figure it's about time to finish it! LOL I'm pleased with the way

I found this great photo of a ground crew member using a gun barrel cleaning rod on a P-40. I used Atlas/chatGPT to clean the photo up, isolate the man and enhance detail. Then i used Tripo 3D software to create a 3d model. Printed it on my Elegoo 16K printer. You can download the STL here.

I've been looking at the instructions and pictures of Miniart's ( aka "manypart") Lanz Bulldog in 1/24 and I need a Brass paint that's not too brassy.......more like tarnished or unpolished brass. It also needs to brush well using a paint brush and airbrush well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is to be used on various fittings and the prominent radiators on each side. Thanks; Paul.

I've been working on this one off and on for over a year. It's nearing completion now so I thought I'd post a few photos. The topside camo is on but I'm thinking I made the dark earth a little too light when I mixed it. I think I might go back and re-apply a darker shade. Then, if it looks okay, it'll be time for the black sides and undersides. 😀

My first build here :-) lets see how it goes. This is a Matra Simca F1 car from 1968. The usual mix of plastic and white metal from MFH. My first problem here is finding reference pictures because MFH has produced an MS11 chassis with a MS9 engine which is correct but nearly all surviving cars seem to have an MS12 engine as above. Anyway thats a detail but it does mean that i will have to guess some details, not least engine colour. This is a strange choice from MFH here but it should be not

I assembled the hull as per the instructions, after installing bearings for the suspension. Inner and outer bearings were fitted for the torsion bars to pivot on.

A test assembly of the swing arms showed that, by using a metal cold weld product, a solid mount could be made to mount the torsion bar on the swing arms.

Inside the swing arm, is a captive nut to hold the wheels on. Two bearings and washers were used on each wheel station, to give a nice smooth ride.

Brass paint

I have no favorite metal paint for brush painting and airbrush, but use different products for all kind of effects. If you don´t want high shine brass, there is always bronze, for example AK´s Extreme Metal Bronze, which sprays very well. Another option would be AK´s True Metal bronze wax. It can be brushed or rubbed on and gives a nice effect too. I heard, you can thin and spray the wax as well, but I never tried that.
Like Martin said, oil or other washes and possibly pigment drybrushing enhance the appearance, depending on the state of wear/patina you´re after.

Brass paint

Instructions are not always right.
To answer your question directly, Model Master metallic lacquers are my favourite. But. I would never leave metallic colour in its slap-on form, Wet-wash it with dark brown or dry-brush it with graphite powder.
