Hot on the heels of my MS11 1968 F1car from MFH comes this. Could there be a bigger contrast in a similar subject? While the method of construction, the detail and the materials differ widely , I wonder if they can compete , side by side on display with 60 years between launch dates? Started my next 1/24 Bill last week 124 scale trumpeter, tropical hurricane I’m building as a desert hurricane, dark brown, and Midstone camouflage. I have some one man army stencils from my Spitfire and typhoon build that I can use for the rounded. Seems to be a pretty quick build goes together really well pretty much out of the box build.

I've been perusing and doing a little cleanup of the Lone Star Models conversion parts for a 1/32 F2G. They are meant to be for the old Revell kit but I'm hoping to be able to use a Tamiya 1A or 1D. As you can see there are some significant "problems" with the LSM parts which, I hope, can be addressed by using Tamiya parts (such as the main cowling). I fixed up a "replacement" using some leftover Tamiya clear parts which I think will work well. PS: I wound up having to use the supplied cowling,

This was a thread on the old site before the crash. So, I bought this shirt at the EAA museum in 2024, right before NATS in Madison, WI. And I've been wearing it to shows but I don't have a P-40 on the shelf. So when Sprue had a sale a while back, I bought the Great Wall Hobbies kit. Hi all, While I'm waiting for the MDesign AW FK.3 kit to arrive, I'm working on another model. It's the older resin cast Oef D.III (Albatros) from Lukgraph (not the later 3D printed kit). The aircraft is D.III (Oef), Series 253.12 as flown by Oberleutenant in der Reserve Ludwig Hautzmayer, Commanding Officer of Flik 61/J, operating from Ghirano, Italy, during the the Summer of 1918. I wanted to build a Spitfire with both the pointy tail and the extended wing tips. And as noted, the extended wingtips of these aircraft were exchanged for the standard Spitfire wing tips. Information about this specific aircraft was from this book. "Taken on charge at No. 39 MU on 15.02.44, MB935 was issued to No. 131 Sqn 11 days later. Hi all, Just purchased the Aladdin Models 1/32 Avro Anson. A lot has been said on Facebook and LSP about the accuracy. I won't dwell on that too much, since this topic deals with the technical side of getting a proper and buildable print. Clear parts My biggest fear are the clear parts. I've never been able to print proper clear parts. I've tried Anycubic transparent resin with sad results. Now I tried Elegoo transparent resin. I got the Meng/WnW DR1 underway doing one of the Barron's mounts, aircraft 127/17. You Wingnut Wing fans will remember that the Albatros DV MvR version from WnW had some bonus decals so that's the aircraft I'm doing. From what I've read this aircraft was not painted overall red until after the war when it was put on display in Berlin. Sadly it was destroyed during the bombings during WW2. I've read that the red paint scheme was a progression so that's what I'm going to try so to get there I hav

The engine has a strange box shape between the cylinders. The Unobtainium exhaust instructions require you to remove this. I am not sure which exhaust to use at the moment but the box section doesnt seem to do anything and its not on the original engine.

anyway its gone now and the resulting hole is covered with a bit of plastic card

The engine has gone through white primer, white gloss, some parts titanium and some a sort of bronze gold.

If this 1968 car follows the path of modern Honda Engines the bronze parts would be magnesium but i dont know going 60 years back.
The original engine shows a bar across the rear which is the throttle bar which links left and right cylinders (top of pic)
Also look at all that detail between the cam covers, none of which is on the model but in fairness it wouldn't be seen under the exhaust which exit out the top there as well.

oddly this is missing on the kit, they give you the levers each end and the backets to hold them but they are not connected

I found a bit of 1.5mm alloy tube that fits through the brackets, it has a 0.9mm bore . I cut the pins that locate in the brackets off and drilled them out and fitted some 0.9mm steel pins and a 33mm long piece of tube

This looks better but i am wondering thy Tamiya didnt do this, i have looked ahead and i cant see it will foul anything later but this might come back to bite me.

A little more progress. Painted the bottom a half black, half u.k. sky identification theme. working on the landing gear. Adding brake lines and hose clamps. Not sure what color to paint the spinner.

Still making progress. Painting is complete except for exhaust stains, etc. Decals soon then I hope to get the canopy and windscreen installed (I hate vacuform canopy's 🤪!!!).

Yes, it is a mask that I purchased. It's probably intended more for use on AFVs but I've seen it used like this too. I used it on the Spitfire VII build too.
The Dark Earth is on. Now I need to cut the masks for over the Dark Earth to allow painting the Dark Green. I think if I try to paint the green freehand, I'll have too soft of a line between colors.

1:32nd scale OEFFAG Albatros D.III

Hi all,
The nose cowl required three modifications.
When offered up to the joined fuselage halves, the outer edges of the nose cowl overlapped the edges of the fuselage.
Therefore, those edges were sanded until they aligned to the fuselage edges.
The joint seam down the centre of the nose cowl is printed as raised, when it was a shallow joint with fasteners.
The vertical seam/joint running down the centre of the nose cowl was sanded away.
The joint line was scribed into the cowl.
The five cooling slots at the bottom, centre of the nose cowl were printed as raised ridges, not as slots.
A rectangle was cut out of the nose cowl to remove the five raised cooling 'slots.
A strip of masking tape was applied to the inside of the nose cowl to cover the opening.
Thin strips of plastic rod were cut to length then located into the opening and held in position on the masking tape.
The strips were then secured in position using thin CA adhesive.
The masking tape strip was removed and the nose cowl painted,
