Hi all, As the Sopwith 2F.1 Camel is coming to a close, I've started researching the next build. The Wingnut Wings RAF RE.8 kit. I'm planning it to be a RE.8 of the 6me Escadrille, Belgian Aviation Militaire, at Houthem-lez-Furnes airfield in 1917. I have the Pheon decal set for the RE.8 which has the Belgian markings. The Pheon colour profiles have the aircrafts colour as very dark, almost black. However, other profiles of the same squadron show the colour to be closer to the RFC PC 10 or 12 f

Well, I've had some set backs with my health in the past few weeks. I developed an infection in my left foot that spread with frightening rapidity and required surgery to remove it. I lost my big toe. I am, however, healing well, my blood sugar is back under control and things look positive. I hope to get back to my bench soon....but I have many appointments to take care of , both my own and my Mom's at this time. In the meantime I've enjoyed following your builds on this forum even from my hosp

These were started a little while back. They then got lost on my bench while I worked on whatever had my fleeting attention. So, having finished the F-16 my bench is ready to get these done. The ZM kit is much further along with the cockpit done, fuselage closed up and the majority of the wings completed as well as the engine. The Revell one has the wings started, the fuselage halves together, and the engine mostly complete.

As the title states. There has been a pretty big hacker attack on numerous servers based in the UK. Our forum happened to be on one of them. As were our 2 back-up servers. Last Friday we were informed by our server host that all data has been deleted by the hackers. This means: our forum website all of our topics, builds and images and all of our member details / accounts We've worked hard over the past few days and did this: We bought a new license with a better, even more secure forum host

This build really was a looong journey. Most time went into researching the Rolls Royce Peregrine engines. Not much is known in terms of reference. Lots of help came from Gunnar Olsen who provided knowledge almost every step of the way. Making the flaps drop was another huge challenge. I opened the radio compartment, which in turn was a project in itself. And so on. No decals used. Lots of 3d designed and printed parts. Right down to the Norton bike, which is so delicate it printed about 20 of t

AJS 7R, 350cc single cylinder race bike from around 1959. So here we have a Protar model motorcycle. Founded in 1963 in Bologna by Tarquinio Provini, a famous motorcycle Grand Prix racer , they produced a wide range of motorcycle kits of the era and later branching into GP cars. Sold out to Italeri around 1970 the history gets sketchy. The original kits were multimedia featuring white metal and plastic parts. I have been widely absent for a while for different reasons, one very obviously it is summertime, with lots of swimming, mountainbiking and doing things around the house, etc. Another reason is redecorating my workspace, selling unused woodworking machines and add desparately needed display shelves to my cave. Not so obvious, but to my own mystification, the forum situation with LSM and MSW crashed with all data and seemingly many members lost and to add to that the forming of Dry Dock Modeler

I have time now, but any physical start won't be 'til the P-40 is finished sometime after NATS. I pulled the kit from the stash several months ago, with plans to start it after the P-40. I purchased the conversion kit from B&B Resin back when Tim first released it. I've also picked up various AM sets but I'm not sure which ones I'll use. I had also picked up this resin base and I'm thinking about using it in the project. In spare moments, I've started painting the base.

What is on your bench right now?

All three are rotating right now P-51 aerial and twu clear lights=done,Tamiya Tiger individual tracks and the ole Me-109 E Hasegawa paid $10 at a show.The 109 is OOB except the belts decided to go retro seeing how the modeling world now likes raised rivets actually it does not look bad at all to be honest.I think my mottling was just a tad heavy it is what it is at this point a quick fun build.

1:32nd scale RAF RE.8

Hi all,
I've been preparing the fuselage internals and cockpit parts.
Fuselage halves wood effect painted with Tamiya Dark Yellow (XF60).
Then Windsor & Newton Griffin Alkyd Raw Sienna oil paint.
MRP Clear Doped Linen MRP-256 used for linen.
Alclad Duraluminium ALC102 used for metal panel area.
Flory Dark Dirt wash used to dirty up the surfaces.
Cockpit parts wood effect as before.
Tamiya acrylics used for painting all other detail.
AK Interactive Kerosene wash AK2039 used for fuel stains.
Clear UV resin used for instrument faces glass.
The pilots wicker seat is molded solid, so that will be replaced with a Barracuda Studios rean seat.
Now it's onto cleaning up for assembly and rigging the bracing wires and control cables,

Just opened this one up - it’s been sitting in the stash for years 🤣
This is a resin/photoetch kit that sort of completes the “story” of the Picket Boat I did wayyy back when. The CSS Albemarle was the Confederate Ironclad sunk by the USN Picket Boat 1 in October of 1864.
This isn’t a huge kit, but at 1/192 it has a lot of truly tiny bits to fiddle with - should be fun!

If i did this again which i will as i have the Protar Matchless i would use a 1/12 chain for this primary drive as stock 1/9 is a bit large. Fine for final drive but large for primary. 1/12 is a lot more common and there is a good choice of way of doing it

Today's special word is SMUG which is how i feel ......Can you have super Smug ? sounds better.

This about 4" laid out straight so about 1.5 inch down its longest length plus curves/sprockets

The secret is parallel pliers whos jaws open parallel surprisingly so force is directly down the center line of the chain link pin. I had thought that my long nose pliers were sufficiently long that the closing angle probably wouldn't be a problem but it turns out they were 95% of my problem.

Here is the kit rubber chain. It has no holes for the sprocket teeth so all yo can do is sit it next to the sprocket

And here is thew MFH chain. its pitch is wrong for the kit sprockets so you will have to cut them off where the chain sits but its a lot better than the rubber effort so worth doing

its only sitting on the engine at the moment and will look better when it glued down and the chain guard is fitted. I had to temporarily mount the whole lot in the frame as the gearbox/rear sprocket are hold in position by screws so you need to mock it up to get the chain length. there is no adjustment so you need to get right to the link, not a problem with the rubber band chain. it will eventually get a black wash
