I've been perusing and doing a little cleanup of the Lone Star Models conversion parts for a 1/32 F2G. They are meant to be for the old Revell kit but I'm hoping to be able to use a Tamiya 1A or 1D. As you can see there are some significant "problems" with the LSM parts which, I hope, can be addressed by using Tamiya parts (such as the main cowling). I fixed up a "replacement" using some leftover Tamiya clear parts which I think will work well.

My first build here :-) lets see how it goes. This is a Matra Simca F1 car from 1968. The usual mix of plastic and white metal from MFH. My first problem here is finding reference pictures because MFH has produced an MS11 chassis with a MS9 engine which is correct but nearly all surviving cars seem to have an MS12 engine as above. Anyway thats a detail but it does mean that i will have to guess some details, not least engine colour. This is a strange choice from MFH here but it should be not

Hi all, Just purchased the Aladdin Models 1/32 Avro Anson. A lot has been said on Facebook and LSP about the accuracy. I won't dwell on that too much, since this topic deals with the technical side of getting a proper and buildable print. Clear parts My biggest fear are the clear parts. I've never been able to print proper clear parts. I've tried Anycubic transparent resin with sad results. Now I tried Elegoo transparent resin. I thought it made sense since I print in an Elegoo printer now as

Hot on the heels of my MS11 1968 F1car from MFH comes this. Could there be a bigger contrast in a similar subject? While the method of construction, the detail and the materials differ widely , I wonder if they can compete , side by side on display with 60 years between launch dates? This is my next project that's already in progress since last W/E.The Atlanta Light Cruiser was built to be basically an anti-aircraft battery and screen for the capital ships.The ship came with 16 X 5" guns across 8 turrets with a single quad 40mm,three twin 20mm and single 20 mm's to which I have Bunker Studios 3D print inbound.The original Very Fire kit came with all the PE as an option but I could not see were I could buy it separate so the PE I believe I will need was ordered and has arrive

Hi all, While I'm waiting for the MDesign AW FK.3 kit to arrive, I'm working on another model. It's the older resin cast Oef D.III (Albatros) from Lukgraph (not the later 3D printed kit). The aircraft is D.III (Oef), Series 253.12 as flown by Oberleutenant in der Reserve Ludwig Hautzmayer, Commanding Officer of Flik 61/J, operating from Ghirano, Italy, during the the Summer of 1918. Small amounts of CA will hold it together but CA on white metal is pretty useless so with small amounts you would easily just pull it all apart again. I have problems with it pulling apart during construction even with larger amounts of CA., Just use a good masking take to hold the resin parts together like Tamiya 5 or 8mm or the like. An ultra sonic cleaner full of water with a glass or plastic vessel that floats on the water with acetone in works really well but its probably over kill as the set CA would flick off metal parts with a scalpel , works brilliantly as a paint stripper on metal and resin parts though.

best advice i could offer on any MFH build is buy a small pen drill , i have an arrowmax (or 3) , you will need to drill a lot of holes ( over 500 in the MS11)

I attached strips of scrap plastic in the gaps. I'll trim the excess off and fill the remaining gaps with white putty. Then I'll sand it out and re-putty where needed, etc.

Wow, that's very beautiful work Paddy. I hope that my MFH builds turn out half as nice as yours!
I saw something about people doing a test run assembly with bits of CA to make sure everything fits before painting and decals. Once everything fits correctly, they put the model in an acetone bath to dissolve the CA and then build it a second time, this time painting, etc. Seems like you'd need a lot of acetone on a 1/12 model to do that, so maybe they are just doing it on 1/20 and 1/43 builds.
Of course, I was watching a video series on a MFH Matra MS11 1/43 kit, and the builder just seemed to paint and build the whole way without any issues.
Not sure what the right approach is, but having seen DocRob have some fit issues with I think his Cobra build, it seems like one needs try and pre-assemble the body, or at least pre-fit the sub-assemblies together, to make sure everything fits correctly.
All that to say, your build is spectacular! Thanks for sharing it.

Hmmm, the more i look at this the more i can see problems but only if you want a correct model.

If i use a bolt to hold the shock then the suspension arm will foul the head. The reason being the entire bracket is the wrong shape , its on the right lines and will look ok but its a representation rather than an accurate part. This opens a can or worms because if i alter one part i will have to alter half a dozen more to suit. I could try making a pin and drilling it and fitting a much smaller head to the pin and make a fake bolt. That way it would add a little detail which the whole thing lacks and it would make a nice model but its not ever going to be correct. The kit looks like its designed to have working suspension which seems a bit pointless and it may pay to fix it in position because its going to be the pivoting of parts that causing the problem because the pivots etc are all way over size so they are strong enough to bounce under the load of the springs.....Hmmmm more food for thought.😄

Chrome is one of those kit affectations I don't get. Bandai has several sprues of differently plated parts in their recent flagship kit of the RX-93 Gundam so it's not just car kits. At least they're not chrome.
As for the white, Honda's Championship White might be a good match. It's a warm white which is supposed to be in tribute to the colour on the RA273. They use it on all of the Type R variants.
